# How to log in

> The ways to log in to mukumo, and how to set up authenticator app codes (two-factor authentication).

You log in to mukumo from a single screen that also works as sign-up. There are no passwords.

## Ways to log in

| Method | How it works |
| --- | --- |
| Google, Apple, GitHub | Log in with your account from each service |
| Email code | Enter your email address and a 6-digit code is sent to you by email. The email has no link |
| Passkey | Log in with the fingerprint, face, or PIN of a device you registered in **Settings** > **Account** |

The method you used last time shows **Last used**.

## Authenticator app codes (two-factor authentication)

You can add a 6-digit code from an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator) as a second step when you log in. Setting it up is optional.

- Once it is set up, you are asked for the code after you log in with an email code, Google, Apple, or GitHub.
- You are not asked when you log in with a passkey.
- When you set it up, you get 10 backup codes. Use them if you can't use your authenticator app.
- If you select **Don't ask again on this device for 30 days**, that device does not ask you for a while.

You set it up and turn it off from **Authenticator app** in **Settings** > **Account**. When you turn it off, you get an email to let you know.
