# Record a meeting and transcribe it

> Record a Google Meet, Zoom, or other meeting in your browser and transcribe it by speaker.

You can record a Google Meet, Zoom, or other meeting from the mukumo screen. When the recording ends, it is transcribed by speaker, and muku can read it. You record in your own browser, without adding a bot to the meeting.

## Before you begin

- An organization owner or admin must add the service **Meeting notes**. Open **More** in the icon column on the left, choose **Add a service**, and select **Add** next to Meeting notes.
- Your organization needs dedicated storage. If you have already added a service that sets it up automatically, such as Boards or Task management, you can use that storage. If setup is incomplete and **Set it up** is shown, an owner or admin can select it. If the screen asks you to contact the operator instead, contact support.
- Only people with the Member role or higher can record.
- To record a meeting tab, use Chrome or Edge on a computer. In other browsers and on smartphones, you can record with **Microphone only**.
- Tell the meeting participants that you are recording.
- On the Meeting notes screen, select **Show me around**. muku highlights places on the screen one by one and shows you how to use it. It also offers this once the first time you open the screen.

## 1. Choose what to record

1. On the Meeting notes screen, select **Record**.
2. Choose what to record.

| What to record | When to use it |
| --- | --- |
| **Meeting tab and microphone** | A Google Meet, Zoom, or other meeting open in your browser. It records the sound of the meeting and your voice |
| **Microphone only** | An in-person meeting, or a meeting you joined in an app. It records with this device's microphone |

3. To keep the screen for watching later, turn on **Also record the screen**. Only the audio is transcribed.
4. Enter a **Title**. If you leave it empty, the date and time you started recording becomes the title.

## 2. Start recording

1. Select **Start recording**.
2. For **Meeting tab and microphone**, a window opens where you choose what to share. Under **Chrome Tab**, choose the meeting tab, turn on **Also share tab audio**, and select **Share**.
3. If you are asked to allow the microphone, allow it.

While you record, a recording bar appears at the bottom of the screen. It shows the recorded time and the sound level. Recording continues if you go to other pages in mukumo. If you close the mukumo tab, recording stops.

If you forget to turn on **Also share tab audio**, you see **No meeting sound is coming through.** and recording does not start. Start again from **Start recording**.

## 3. Stop recording

1. Select **Stop** in the recording bar. Selecting **Stop sharing** in the browser also stops it.
2. When the rest has been sent, you see **Recording saved. Transcribing now.**
3. In a few minutes, the meeting shows **Done** in the meeting list. Transcription continues even if you close this page.

The recording is saved every 10 seconds. If the tab closes partway through, open that meeting and select **Finish with what arrived**. It transcribes what was received.

## Credits

Transcription uses 1 credit per minute of recording (a started minute counts as 1 minute). One recording can be transcribed up to 300 minutes.
