# Get started with Web analytics (install the tag)

> Add your site, paste one tag line into the head of every page on your website, and check that it arrived.

Add your site, then paste one tag line inside the `<head>` of every page on your website. A few seconds after a page with the tag is opened, numbers start to appear on the **Web analytics** screen.

## Before you begin

- Add the **Web analytics** service. An Owner or Admin can add it from the **Services** screen.
- Site settings are saved in your organization's dedicated storage (a separate database for each organization). Adding Web analytics sets it up automatically, and it's ready in about a minute (until then you'll see **Setting up dedicated storage**, and the page switches over on its own). If you see **Couldn't set up dedicated storage**, an owner or admin selects **Try again**. Each person can have it set up automatically for up to 3 organizations. If you need more, or it still doesn't work after trying again, contact support.
- Adding a site and changing its settings need the Member role or higher.

## Add a site and install the tag

1. Open **Analytics** in the icon column on the left, then select **Add site**.
2. In **Site domain**, enter a domain such as `example.com`. You can also paste a URL that starts with `https://`. Subdomains (such as `shop.example.com`) are tracked too.
3. Select **Add and show the tag**. The **Settings & tag** tab opens.
4. Under **Install the tag**, select **Copy** for the one-line tag, then paste it inside the `<head>` of every page on your website. The copied tag already contains your site's public key in place of `PUBLIC_KEY`.

```html
<script async src="https://app.mukumo.com/i/PUBLIC_KEY.js"></script>
```

Where to paste it:

| How your site is built | Where to paste |
| --- | --- |
| WordPress | The theme's `header.php`, or a plugin that lets you add code to the header |
| Wix, STUDIO, Peraichi, Shopify and similar | The "custom code" or "head code" field |

## Check that it arrived

1. Open a page that has the tag in your browser.
2. In **Settings & tag**, select **Check installation**.
3. When you see "Received … Tracking is working.", you're done. **No data yet** at the top of the screen changes to **Receiving data**.

If it doesn't arrive, check the following:

- **Tracked domains** includes the domain of the site where you pasted the tag. Data from other domains is discarded.
- If your site uses a Content-Security-Policy, you've added `https://app.mukumo.com` to `script-src` and `connect-src`.
- You aren't opening the page in a browser with an ad blocker.

## Exclude your own or your team's visits

- In your own browser, open your site with `?mukumo_optout=1` added, for example `https://example.com/?mukumo_optout=1`. That browser stops sending data. Use `?mukumo_optout=0` to undo it.
- To exclude your office network as a whole, add it to **IP addresses to exclude** in **Settings & tag**. Ranges such as `192.0.2.0/24` work too.

## Add it to your privacy policy

Once the tag is installed, visitor information is sent to TSUQREA Inc. (mukumo). **What to add to your privacy policy** in **Settings & tag** has sample text that follows your current settings. Copy it and add it to your site's privacy policy. For a full description of the information sent, see [Information sent by Web analytics](/docs/en/tracking/data-sent/).
