Send broadcasts

On this page

On the Broadcasts tab, you send a message to many LINE friends at once (a broadcast). Recipients can be all friends, or friends narrowed down by tags, score, entry route or form answers. You can send right away or schedule a time. After sending, Results shows who opened the message and who opened a URL.

Before you begin

  • Connect a LINE Official Account first (Connect a LINE Official Account).
  • Members and above create and send broadcasts. Viewers can only look. People with Assignments to specific accounts don’t see the Broadcasts tab.
  • Messages you send count toward the Official Account’s monthly message limit. The broadcast form shows how many you’ve sent this month.

Create a broadcast

  1. In LINE management, open the Broadcasts tab, choose Broadcasts at the top (next to Scenarios and Reminders), and click Create broadcast.
  2. Enter a Broadcast name. Friends don’t see it; it appears in the inbox history.
  3. Choose the Account to send from.
  4. Add what to send under Messages. You can mix text, images and cards. For cards, Create a card with AI drafts the title, text and buttons for you (it uses credits).
  5. Choose the Recipients (see the table below).
  6. Under When, choose Save as draft, Send now or Schedule, then click the button at the bottom.

You can’t use {name} (the friend’s name) in broadcast text, because everyone gets the same text.

Recipients Who gets it
All friends Every friend of this Official Account. It uses LINE’s broadcast, so friends you haven’t seen in the inbox get it too
Friends with tags Friends who have any of the selected tags and haven’t blocked the account
Narrow down Friends who match the conditions and haven’t blocked the account. Only friends known in the inbox get it

Narrow down with conditions

With Narrow down, you combine conditions to choose recipients. Once every condition is filled in, the number of recipients appears.

  1. Click Add a condition and choose the Condition type.
    • Tags: has any of or has all of the selected tags
    • Score: a value or more or or less
    • Entry route: people who became friends through the selected routes
    • Answered a form: people who answered the selected form
    • Form answer: a field where the friend chose any of the selected values, or where the answer contains text. The latest answer is used
  2. With two or more conditions, choose all conditions or any condition under People who meet.
  3. To skip some people, click Add an exclusion and add conditions under Leave out. People who match any of them don’t get the message.

Save conditions you use often with Save these conditions, then pick them next time with Use a saved segment (Filter and export friends).

Test before sending

Click Test on LINE and pick a friend from the inbox to send just one copy to that person (it stays in the inbox as a normal message). If you add the Official Account as a friend on your own LINE, you can see how the message looks when it arrives.

Avoid overlaps with other accounts

Use this when you’ve connected several Official Accounts and the same person is a friend of two or more of them.

  1. Turn on Avoid overlaps with other accounts.
  2. Choose the accounts under Also send from.
  3. The number of recipients and the number of overlapping people left out appear. Each person gets only one message.

With this option, only friends known in the inbox get the message. Even with All friends, it’s sent to each person individually instead of with LINE’s broadcast. To see how many people overlap, check Duplicate friends on the Friends tab.

After sending

  • The broadcast list shows each one as Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Sent, Failed or Canceled.
  • Stop a scheduled broadcast with Cancel schedule. While one is sending, Stop the rest stops it for people who haven’t received it yet.
  • You can’t take back messages that were sent.
  • Click Results to see Delivered, Opened and Opened a URL from LINE statistics, along with the URLs that were opened. Statistics appear a few days after sending. LINE hides numbers under 20, shown as “—”.
